Alan’s career has been in community development, youth work, the arts, education and politics, leading to an essentially holistic research and development approach in his cultural activity.

Edinburgh-based Alan Tweedie has worked with arts practitioners from many East, West and Central European Countries and in the south Asian sub-continent. In 2006 Alan completed a five-year evaluation of an innovative children's arts initiative in Fatima Mansions, Dublin. Also in 2006 he was an artistic associate at Bradford Mela and led the event management team for the World Sufi Festival in Glasgow.

He is part of the 14-person Melange Network which includes three associates in Dhaka and four associates in India. As such he is strongly placed to develop intercultural and international products. He is developing collaborative projects between Bangladesh and UK and between India and Europe planned for 2007 and 2008. He is a central player in the developing BanglaScot Foundation. Alan is also associated with VIP Entertainments and VIP Records live act management.
