The Swindon Mela is an annual event, taking place on the last Saturday in July in the Town Gardens, Old Town.

Swindon Mela prides itself on quality live performances on three stages including music and dance from top names from the Asian entertainment scene – Jazzy B, Raghav, Sukshinder Shinda, Ajay and Arif Lohar in 2006. The showcase stage hosts a wealth of talent and sparkling displays from the Swindon and regional Asian communities including a spectacular fashion show and martial arts display.

In addition to all the fantastic performance arts the event also boasts a Mela market with over 50 stalls selling mouth-watering food and a wide variety of products from the Indian sub continent. A Health zone gives the opportunity to try alternative therapies and the Activities Zone gives people the chance to try their hand at traditional arts and crafts, turban tying and dressing in saris.

If that isn’t enough there’s also the Kids Zone with facepainting, funfair and children’s entertainments. Swindon Mela also co-ordinates a range of community based arts and cultural pre and post Mela activities.
